Photography And Trees

by George Dodson

Trees look more beautiful in autumn season. But is it possible to wait until autumn? Certainly not!

Your camera

What kind of lenses do you want to use? It depends upon totally up to you. The lenses vary from wide angle to shorter telephotos. You are free to use compact camera also. As in dark forest light is unsatisfactory, you should take a tripod must. If you are going for a long travel you should take a bag that has multiple pockets and enough space so that you can take all the essential things with you.

Woods are your friends

We find trees always near by our garden or road. If you want an extraordinary shot you should go for woods or local garden rather than your house tree. It is needless to carry the tripod if you can not use it. So, be sure that you can use it on where you are going. If you want to take shots of a group of trees, it is better to take the entire view by stepping backward. You can also take a portion for artistic view.

Time selection

As highly contrasting light is not good for photography you should choice late morning or afternoon for tree photography. A gloomy day is never suitable for photography. But there has an exception for some close up photography.

Go for textures and patterns

You should get closer when you are going for a single tree. You should view down some texture on your photo that focuses to the trunk.

Including artificial things

You can take some man made object that goes with the soft nature in your photo. It is better to consider benches, statues in this case.

When leaves are your target

In a clear blue sky it is good to look for canopy and leaves of tree. You can go for fine points in veins as green contrast excellent versus blue. Be conscious to avoid bug chewed leaves. When you need to get closer to the object, use micro lenses of 100 mm of diameter. On the other hand when you need more interpretation it is convenient to use an extension tube or coupling rings on two lenses.

If you want a shiny and distinct work, please avoid the thicker leaves and same patterned leaves.
